Ministry to boost diversification of processed fish products
The Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is now increasing its efforts to boost the diversification of processed fish products, a KKP official said.
KKP Spokesman Indra Sakti said in a statement made to available that the diversification was done through increasing the capacity of small-scale fish businesses and fish processing industries .
He said that the ministry had been carrying out various pro-people programs such as increasing the supply chain and the value chain management of processed fish production.

ADB predicts 6.4 percent economic growth in 2012
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has predicted the nation`s economic growth will reach 6.4 percent in 2012, following the global economic slowdown caused by the crisis in Europe, ADB economist Edimon Ginting said.
"Indonesia will retain its economic growth at 6.4 percent by keeping on guard against the weakening of export and capital outflow this year," Ginting explained.
But he also predicted that the economic growth in 2013 would rise by 6.7 percent following the recovery of the trade and investment sectors.
Indonesia`s GDP may reach 9 trillion US dollars
Indonesia`s gross domestic growth (GDP) has increased rapidly to 9 trillion US dollars, Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan said.
"Accumulated in 2010 to 2030 period, the GDP will reach 63 trillion US dollars, and we estimated that 30 pct of it came from investments," Minister Gita said after attending a seminar in Jakarta.
He also believed that in the next 20 years Indonesia`s capital budget may grow to 18 trillion US dollars.
Britain committed to raising investment in RI
The British government seeks to increase its investment in, and trade with, Indonesia following Prime Minister David Cameron`s visit to Indonesia this month, according to an Indonesian minister.
"He did not specifically disclose figures but was committed to increasing investment and trade volume between the two countries," Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa said here on Friday.
Cameron visited Indonesia during April 11-12. His entourage included Trade Minister Lord Green, Minister of Universities and Sciences David Willetts, and representatives from 39 British companies.
"The delegation included businesspersons, so there will be business-to-business cooperation," Hatta noted.
Carrefour wants to expand its business to Sumatra
The multinational retail company Carrefour is expanding its business to Sumatra, especially in Pekanbaru City, which is known to have a high economic growth rate.
"We are first seeking the location, and then study its business strategy," Corporate Affairs Director of Carrfour RM. Adji Srihandoyo said.
Carrefour is a company operating in international supermarkets based in France. Adji said 40 pct of the company`s shares belonged to Indonesian investors.
