Auto industry grows 26.15 pct in second quarter |

Indonesia`s auto industry grew 26.15 percent in the second quarter oF 2010 compared to the first quarter, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS).
The auto industry`s growth in the second quarter of 2010 was higher than the average growth of medium and big industries year-on-year in the first quarter of 2009 which reached 4.27 percent, BPS head Rusman Heriawan said at a press conference here on Monday. The BPS had noted medium and big industries always grew positively in the second quarter in the past four years. Rusman however said in the second quarter this year growth of medium and big industries was better than in 2009 although it was still far from the same period in 2007 when growth reached 6.91 percent.

The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) recently concluded a specialised marketing mission to Jakarta and found tremendous business opportunities for Malaysian construction companies. The mission on construction and related services was in collaboration with the Construction Industry Development Board and the Master Builders Association Malaysia. It looked to target the US$47.3 billion in infrastructure and construction projects announced by the Indonesian government recently on its Public Private Partnership (PPP) programme which include air, land and maritime transportation, power generation, railways, solid waste and sanitation, toll roads and water supply.

RI encouraging more economic cooperation among developing nations |

Indonesia is encouraging increased economic cooperation among developing nations through the South-South cooperation, a minister said.
"We expect there will be mutually beneficial cooperation. Those entitled to aid can receive it according to their situations and potentials. As an aid provider, Indonesia can benefit from the economic cooperation," Minister of National Development Planning Armida Alisjahbana who is also chief of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) said after opening a national seminar on the government policy in developing the South-South cooperation here on Thursday.

Minister invites US to invest in state enterprises |

State Enterprises Minister Mustafa Abubakar has invited US capital investors to do business in Indonesia as state enterprises in the country had been constantly growing although the economy in Asia in general has been declining.
"I believe that the Indonesian economy which was firm in facing the 2009 crisis was one concrete proof that our business companies had now become much improved, with a strong balance and big chance for growth," Mustafa said when addressing capital market businessmen at a New York Midtown Conference and Client Center on Tuesday.
Mustafa was in New York under an Indonesia Corporate Day 2010 program of the Indonesian government to give the latest picture on the activities of Indonesian state enterprises and the government`s strategy in boosting the state enterprises.

BKPM hints investment to hit rp180 trillion |

The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) has hinted the realization of investment may hit a record of Rp180 trillion this year if the government is able to improve infrastructure facilities and ensure energy supplies.
"Let`s wait and see. We hope the realization of investment can hit the record," BKPM Chief Gita Wirjawan said here on Wednesday.
The government has set itself the target of attracting Rp160 trillion worth of investment this year.
"But until the first semester of this year the realization of investment has reached Rp92.9 trillion, accounting for 58.1 percent of the target," he said.
